Taib brings cheers to Balingian folk

Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday brought cheers to the people in his constituency of Balingian when he announced grants totalling RM2.0 million to implement projects based on people’s needs and requests.

Taib made the announcement during the leader-with-the-people session which was held at Kampung Seberang Mukah here.

He said the grants would be given out according to the formal requests of the local people and upon official recommendations from Resident and district offices in Mukah and Balingian areas, as well as other relevant government departments and agencies.

Taib also announced his agreement to allocate grants for the construction of a community hall at Kampung Seberang Mukah to serve the needs of seven villages within the vicinity.

“I would like to look at the proposed designs of this new community hall at Kampung Seberang Mukah first before I can approved the amount of money to build it,” said Taib.

Taib also brought cheers to the people of Kampung Sungai Alo when he agreed to give grants for the construction of a concrete fence for Surau Darul Ibadah but the amount had to be ascertained by the surau management committee.

At the function, Taib also presented cash donations to 105 poor and needy, handicap, senior citizens and single mothers from the Kampung Seberang area.

In his speech, Taib called on the people of Kampung Seberang and Mukah to remain united behind the BN government for more development and progress.

In his welcoming speech, Mukah MP Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Toyad Abdullah praised Taib for his visionary leadership in bringing developments and progress to the people of Mukah and Sarawak.

He then urged the people to continue giving their full support to the BN government.

Among those present at the function were Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office and Dalat assemblywoman Datin Fatimah Abdullah, political secretary to Chief Minister and Jemoreng assemblyman Abu Seman Jahwie, Daro assemblyman Murni Suhaili, Land Survey director Datu Sudarsono Osman, Mukah Resident Saudi Narani, Penghulu Musa Basri, government officers and community leaders
