Make our streets a safer place to stroll for you and me

Recent incident involved snatching and stabbing of three school girls which left one dead and two seriously injured on March 11 2010.

What better steps should be taken to cope these fright?

Here are few suggestions put by the public.

The police are urge to step up security and preventive measures to improve and tighten security on the streets.

The police are also appealed to identify high risks areas like those with insufficient street lights and to implement risk control measures.

The police should do more to prevent snatching and other crimes from happening, especially crime against women and school children who have to walk home and put more plainclothes policemen assigned to high risks areas.

It may not be possible to have cops round the clock, but CCTVs should be installed.

Street crimes are too rampant these days and many went unreported because of the long procedures in making police reports.

In view of the irretrievable harm, loss, mental and physical injuries caused on victims and the image of the state security in our country, serious attention from all parties especially the police to take urgent actionand do something about the increasing street crimes in the state.
